Direct Train From Ben Gurion Airport to Jerusalem! (Price, Timetable and 2019 Experience)

Finally, the long-awaited airport train from Ben Gurion airport is up and running! Ticket fare is 17 NIS, the ride is for 24 minutes. This is now the most convenient and cost-effective travel option to Jerusalem from the airport! At the end of this article free ride info will be shared.

🎟️Buying Ticket & Fare

Similar to how you buy a train ticket to Tel Aviv, you buy your ticket to Jerusalem with cash, credit card or with Rav-Kav stored value (if you already have Rav-Kav card) There’s no need to buy a ticket online in advance.

See, the fare is 17 NIS (roughly $5). That’s pretty cheap! (And about the same price as airport bus #485)

(You could buy a ticket online if you want, but you must have a Rav-Kav card in hand….)

🕑 Timetable

The earliest train leaves at 06:31, and the last train of the day leaves at 19:31. The schedule runs every 20-30 minutes. But there’s no train on Friday ….. (How to travel from the airport on Shabbat) and the train resumes service at 22:00 on Saturday….

The last train on Thursday is at 19:31. And then there’s no bus on Friday and Saturday until the next train ride at 06:31 on Sunday.

It’s the same thing on between Sunday and Monday, the last ride is at 19:31 and the first ride is at 06:31 the next morning.

Yitzhak Navon Train Station Location

Yitzhak Navon Train Station is just next to Jerusalem Central Bus Station.

That building in front of you is Jerusalem Central Bus Station. The track in this picture is Jerusalem’s light rail. So you get inter-city bus station + light rail + train station all at the same place.

Experience of taking the Direct Train to Jerusalem

It was smooth, no delay. I love this double-deck train. Wifi was working. WC was kind of clean.

My only problem was there wasn’t enough room for storing luggage near the seats. If it is “airport train”, then it is important to have racks near the doors.

I talked to an Israeli engineer about this, and he said “Yes Israeli are stupid”. That was so confusing as in Taiwan, we love Israeli and we think this small nation has a lot to learn from.
