How do you read these discounted tags in Israeli supermarkets? It’s all in Hebrew! It’s so confusing! To avoid disappointment, I only picked items which were already cheap or the buy 1 get 1 free type. Until I found out about this tip, a great TIP!
For example, if you see this tag, 3 for 11. Okay, so which 3 should you take? The ones with yellow stickers? Or any 3 ? Here is the answer….
Notice tthe series of numbers on the tag. It’s like lottery. So you need to check the barcode on the item, if it matches any of these numbers here, then these are the discounted items.
It’s possible that a random product you pick from the shelf matches, but chances are, you mistakenly take one that is not discounted, and you don’t even notice that you are buying at original price without any discount at checkout.
For example, these are some of the numbers that I should be looking for on any of this Hummus 0905, 0899, 8067, 6061, 6054, 6047, 6023, 4944, 1578…..
You have to pick the item up, and look for the last 4 digits! Crazy, right?
So now you know how to pick a discounted product with great confidence! That’s how it works in Israel!
